PTFE is a truly unique material and still the most widely used of all the fluoropolymers. PTFE has a combination of chemical, electrical and thermal performance unmatched by any other commercially available material and is chemically pure and inert. Virgin PTFE contains no additives or antioxidants that can contaminate fluids resulting in an engineering material with an extensive range of applications encompassing a wide range of industries resulting in a long service life.

Glass in the form of short fibers are usually in fill loads of 15% or 25%. Glass has little effect on most of the electrical properties of PTFE. It resists acids and oxidation, but the glass fibers can be attacked by strong alkalis. The Glass filler improves creep strength, deformation under load and dramatically increases the bearing and wear capabilities .

Carbon has good chemical resistance to corrosive environments. It exhibits good initial wear and rubbing or sliding contact characteristics, both dry and water applications. Carbon Filled PTFE is more thermally conductive than the glass filled. It is frequently used in piston rings to reduce cylinder wall wear by entrapping abrasive foreign particles in it’s relatively soft surface.

General purpose dry bearing material for bushing and sliding pads for mechanical applications in general. High wear and abrasion resistance, good compressive properties. Suitable for the majority of dry bearing applications against hard counter-surfaces. Good electrical insulating properties. This material is great in dirty, gritty environments. Compare physical properties to Rulon® LR.

The lowest coefficient of friction in dry applications. Suitable for the machining of bearings and other sliding parts for the food industry or for any other use in contact with soft materials such as aluminum, copper alloys and other plastics. Very good wear resistance, compression resistance, high flexibility and tensile strength, excellent insulating properties. This material is great in dirty, gritty environments.
